Senior Whole Health enrolls 700th member:
Becomes Fastest Growing Special Needs Plan in Upstate New York
ALBANY, NY (May 19, 2009) — Senior Whole Health of New York (SWH) recently welcomed its 700th member, making it the fastest growing special needs plan in upstate New York.
The voluntary plan, which provides health care benefits for people who are eligible for Medicare and Medicaid (dual-eligibles), serves residents living in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Dutchess and Ulster counties. SWH will expand into additional upstate counties in 2010.
“This is a significant milestone for us,” said SWH Executive Director Margaret Wallingford, whose company began enrolling qualified senior citizens starting in January 2007. “Our success to date shows there is a real need for a health care plan that allows seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible. Our unique approach is helping to lower health care costs and improving the quality of life for our members.”
SWH, which employs 32 locally and continues to expand its customer service, advertising, marketing and clinical staff, combines all of the benefits of Medicare and Medicaid into one comprehensive health services package to cover their needs.
Based in Cambridge, MA, SWH offers members many benefits to make life at home even more comfortable. This includes around-the-clock access to their health care team, no co-pays or deductibles, prescription coverage, specialized geriatric support services, no claim forms, non-medical services such as transportation, staff fluent in several languages, and non-traditional programs such as Tai Chi fall-prevention.
Eight months ago, SWH had another major breakthrough when it was named the fastest-growing private company in the United States by INC. magazine in its annual list of the country’s 500 fastest-growing companies. The company had revenue growth of 31,000 percent from 2004 to 2007.
